PURNIMA-Wonderful Shops

I love looking for unusual shops selling unique products. Whilst on holiday in Ibiza I came across a wonderful bead shop called Purnima.

Alessandra, the Italian owner and her family spend 6 months a year travelling through Europe and Asia looking for amazing unique items to sell in their shop. The service is knowledgeable and passionate, and everything is available to make one-off jewelry.

PURNIMA (meaning the full moon in Sanskrit) is a jewelry store with a difference stocking individual beads from Thailand, jewels and gems from Milan, semi-precious and precious stones from Laos and gold and silver from India. It is like going on a journey across the world without having to travel. So if you do visit Ibiza do have a look but be warned you may not want to leave….

Made To Last....

Rust-Jewellery
I love jewellery not bling or certain high street shops who charge a fortune for pieces of string with a few beads on, (I am sure you know who!) but beautiful crafted pieces that can be passed onto your children and give pleasure for years.
One of my favourite jewellery companies is RUST, who is based in London.  All their jewellery is handmade in London using traditional methods and tools by a small team of highly skilled jewellers. Not only is their work unique and beautifully crafted, I love the inventive way their pieces are displayed and the wonderful personality and sheer British-ness and sense of humour.
Nao Utsumi came to London (from his native Japan) at 18 years old with the dream of studying shoe-making at Cordwainers. However he realised he had a talent and passion for jewellery making.  He joined forces with Artemis Russell, an English fine artist and together they formed Rust.

By purchasing from RUST Jewellery, you are showing your support for British Manufacturing and are helping to keep alive the traditional techniques such has hand engraving and stone setting. Every ring is unique, as each and every one has been hand made and/or worked on using tiny chisels. You also a purchasing a beautiful, unique piece of jewellery and I am sure an antique of the future, I am not too sure that a piece of string with a few beads on will turn up on the Antiques Road show!
Also check out Artemis’s blog which is really stylish, a little bit eccentric and great fun.

Emma Cassi- Jewellery and Lace
I just love fashion accessories and I am always on the lookout for something a bit different.  I came across Emma Cassi’s unique, beautiful work several years ago and feel she a truly talented artisan.  Originally born in France, she merges a sensibility for lace and embroidery born of her native country. Emma now lives and works in South West London, where she creates high quality fashion jewellery and is also an interior stylist.
Emma mixes beading, sewn work and hand-embroidery in her collections. Vintage sequins, Japanese glass beads, semi-precious stones, crystals, Swarovski, and gemstones are all used in these stunning pieces of work. Emma uses the ancient traditions of lace making and craft of hand embroidery in her modern but nostalgic jewellery.
Her feminine designs have a timeless appeal and are modern antiques and that will never go out of fashion. Emma’s work can be found in. Anthropologie  and Designers Guild and on her own website.

I have posted example of her work and also have examples of her work and other unique fashion accessories
